Are we really INDEPENDENT
I heard my name while sleeping and jumped out of the bed immediately unlike other days because the day has got something very special which is known to be our independence day. I just got up rubbing my eyes, took bath and mumma dressed me up in a beautiful pink frock. Wow! The day is special because we go to school, meet our friends, attend program and get sweets but need not to dress in a boring white shirt and blue tunic.
I geared up towards the school with my father, he dropped me at the school gate where he was instructed to receive me back at 1:30 pm as school transport wasn't available that day. The day automatically became cherishable. Met my friends , enjoyed the program which included performance of students on patriotic songs, a group of few seniors presented a skit where they showcased the gist of history of how we were being ruled by Britishers, how efforts were made by our forefathers to present us the biggest gift which is freedom and how we got independence. My heart started racing and the whole skit gave me goosebumps.
The program was wrapped up with a speech by Principal where she addressed people who made efforts to make whole function successful. At the end, we received sweets and happily moved towards school gate where parents were standing to pick us up. On the way back home, me and dad had an Ice-cream date.
That day, News, movie and music channels get flooded by India's history, nationalist movies and patriotic songs respectively which makes us immense proud on our real grounded heroes and learn their contribution in making India a free and independent country. Independence Day doesn’t mean one day of nationalist pride, it means a commitment to serve the nation in a truly inclusive way.
Year after year, the same story repeats on every Independent day. The feeling of patriotism is inherent in the hearts of every Indian citizen. The feeling is same despite the differences in human nature, religion, gender, caste or race.
After almost seven decades of independence the question hit in my mind that Are We Still Independent?
Yes, we have got the freedom from Britishers but are we really free in our own country?
All we need is to walk together and keep hold on your brothers. There are people who suffer at every step, who die each moment and then there are those who live their lives to the fullest, those who treasure each moment. Here, the question arises, Are we Independent in true sense?
Well, every drop counts. I am trying and requesting everyone to build a better nation to live in by putting your efforts.
Raise your voice against any wrong you see or suffer.
Who knows? Your single drop of effort can full other's bucket of need.
Wishing you all a very Happy Independence Day!

- Well, It's a debatable and never ending question but in my views we will attain total freedom when we will be able to openly speak about what is right and what is wrong, when women will be empowered and crime against them will be vanished and no more Nirbhaya will be there, when women will be free to roam outside without any fear and can go anywhere at anytime of the day or night ,When girl child will not be considered a burden to the society and no more girls will be killed for the sake of dowry, When farmers will be given right to choose completely and they will not have to sell their foods at lower costs, when rights of lower caste people will not be exploited, when laborer will be able to send their children to schools, when all citizens will be treated equal, when most of the population will be educated, employment opportunities will be available, poverty will be eradicated and medical facilities will be improved. We will be free in true sense when we get rid of these evils.
All we need is to walk together and keep hold on your brothers. There are people who suffer at every step, who die each moment and then there are those who live their lives to the fullest, those who treasure each moment. Here, the question arises, Are we Independent in true sense?

This blog is really great. Especially the last line about every drop counts is impressive. People sometimes fail to realise that not everyone can bring big changes. But if we put in full effort for just one person at a time, humanity as a whole can do wonders
ReplyDeleteYes, That is how humans have to work in a positive direction to save the mankind.
